Demonstration Experiment of Film-Type Perovskite Solar Cells

HIS×LAWSON

2024年12月13日 企業情報(英語版)
H.I.S. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Motoshii Yada; hereinafter referred to as HIS) will collaborate with Saule Technologies (Headquarters: Wroclaw, Poland; Founder and CTO: Olga Malinkiewicz; hereinafter referred to as Saule Technologies) and Lawson, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President, CEO: Sadanobu Takemasu) to start a pilot demonstration using film-type perovskite solar cells at "Green Lawson" (LAWSON Kita-Otsuka 1-chome) from Monday, December 16, 2024.
Perovskite solar cells are a type of solar cell that uses compounds with a perovskite crystal structure as the power-generating layer. These cells can generate electricity not only from sunlight but also from indoor lighting, offering high power generation efficiency, lightweight, and flexibility. This makes them a highly versatile next-generation solar cell suitable for various installations. Since 2015, HIS has invested in Saule Technologies, a Polish startup developing film-type perovskite solar cells, with exclusive sales rights for their products in Japan and Asia. This time, we start the pilot demonstration to install electronic shelf labels, electronic paper, and power generation panels using film-type perovskite solar cells at Green Lawson.

Installation Overview:

1.    Electronic Shelf Labels
Film-type perovskite solar cells are adopted as the power source for electronic shelf labels, which traditionally used button batteries. The electricity generated from indoor light allows for remote updates of display content, such as product information and prices.

2.    Electronic Paper
Electronic paper is used as a substitute for in-store advertisements in paper, outputting various information. The power generated by perovskite solar cells enables remote updates of the display content.

3.    Power Generation Panels
Power generation panels using film-type perovskite solar cells are installed on the interior walls of the store, providing electricity for the electronic paper displays.
